About Us

The Bow Valley Riptides Swim Club is a non-profit organization that raises its annual budget by fees and fund raising activities.

Mission Statement

To provide a competitive and developmental swimming environment with qualified coaches who are dedicated to developing each child physically, socially and emotionally. To promote the sport of competitive swimming through regularly scheduled competitions, thereby developing team spirit, sportsmanship and self-confidence. To provide athletes with opportunities to compete at the local, Provincial and National level.

President (Lindsey Williams) 

  • Programming
  • Coaching and coach liaison
  • Organize monthly board meetings including agenda
  • Chair AGM

Vice-President (Christie Pashby)

  • Communications: monthly, start of season, end of season
  • Admin support
  • Policy updates
  • Support President as required

Secretary (Susie Materi)

  • Minutes, amend bylaws
  • Admin support

Treasurer (Nancy Ouimet)

  • Financial administration: monthly financial statements, payroll, audited financials for AGM
  • Liaison with registrar, bookkeeper, Alberta Gaming

Member-at-large: Fundraising, Brand and Sponsorship (Ryan Fowler)

  • Swimathon, corporate sponsorship
  • Equipment and apparel

Member-at-large: Competition and Events (Jenny Shea)

  • Meets (liaise with meet manager)
  • Team travel
  • Socials (liaise with coaching team)

Member-at-large: Officials and Volunteering (Brad Skinner)

  • Volunteer coordinator: ensure requirements are met
  • Officials coordinator: move parents through Swim Canada system
  • Work via SwimCanada website to register officials

All: 

  • attend monthly board meetings (online or in person)
  • reply to emails promptly
  • assist with periodic admin work
