AGM and Team Night

We will be hosting our first Team Night for all swimmers, tomorrow Thursday, September 26th after swimming, starting at 5:30pm in EP Room 208. There will be pizza and team time with Coaches Don and Beth.

While the Coaches are keeping the swimmers occupied, the Club will be hosting the Annual General Meeting afterwards from 6:30-7:00pm, also in EP Room 208.

We require all parents to attend in order to present the 2012-13 Annual Report and to elect the Board of Directors for the 2013-2014 season. The current Board have all agreed to continue on with their roles, however, we are looking for some parents to help out with non-board positions.  Please consider getting involved with the Club and supporting your swimmer(s).

Casino Fundraiser

Our biggest fundraiser is set for Saturday and Sunday, December 7 and 8, 2013 at the Century Casino in Calgary.  The volunteer sign-up sheet has been posted so sign up now to get the time and position that you want!

There is no experience required for any of the positions and it is a very relaxed and laid back environment. There will be plenty of help and direction from the paid casino advisors.   Food and drinks are provided at the casino.

Distance Challenge Time Trial

We are hosting a time trial swim meet for all Riptides swimmers during regular practice hours on Monday, December 17 from 3:30 to 6:00 pm.  This is an opportunity for swimmers to try some of the long distance events that are not always offered at swim meets. It is also a chance to qualify for the Alberta Age Group Trials Championships in February by achieving a Meet Qualifying Standard.

At this meet, swimmers in the 10&U category can qualify in the 100 IM, 200 IM, or 400 free, while swimmers that are 11 or older can qualify in the 200 IM, 400 free, 800 free, or 1500 free.  Here are the Alberta Provincial Meet Qualifying Standards.

Warm-ups are from 3:30 to 4:25 pm and the meet will run from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. We need parents to help out as timers and stroke and turn judges. Please sign up for a shift here – http://volunteersignup.org/PHCRB.

Thanks to Lockie Lister, who is returning as our meet referee.

The swim meet will be followed by our annual Christmas party upstairs at the Rec Centre in Lady MacDonald Hall from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Details to follow by email.
