Wow! Really proud of the team! They raced so well at the Winter Cup Invitational in Calgary. The team finished with eight medals: 3 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze. 11 swimmers swam 100% personal best times.
Congratulations to Avi, who qualified for the Age Group Trials Championships, which will be held February 22 to 24, 2013. She improved her turns in the 100 IM and dropped over five seconds for a “B” time which qualified her for Trials. She had her biggest improvement of 13 seconds in the 100 breast. Her best finish was fourth in the 200 Back.
Neo was on a roll dropping 21 seconds in his 100 breast with impressive pull outs. Although he mistimed his turn and hit his heels on the pool deck, he still managed to grab a silver medal with a PB in the 50 back. In the process he bruised his heels and did not swim his next two events. He didn’t want to let the boys relay team down, so he went on to race the fly leg of the medley relay combining with Aidan, Sean and Alex for a gold medal!
Alex dropped half a second in his 100 IM helping him to win the gold. He also braved three new events and collected two bronze in the 100 breast and 200 back.
Aidan as been more focused in practice and it paid off for him. He swam 100% best times. His best finish was eighth in 200 Back.
Sean was also on a roll in improving all his races. Dropping just over three seconds gave him a “B” time in his 50 Free. His best finish was sixth in 100 fly.
Josh had a great day, braving three events for the first time. He won the 100 fly and got bronze in the 100 breast.
Amanda had a nice improvement of 19 seconds for all her races. Her best finishes were fourth in 100 fly and 200 back.
Camryn improved all her personal best times. She swam a beautiful 100 breaststroke for her biggest drop of the day of six seconds. Her best finish was fourth in the 100 fly.
Maja improved her turns in the past week and it showed in her 100 IM dropping over 4 seconds from the meet on the previous weekend. She braved the 200 back and finished with a bronze medal!
Avery was racing four new events for the first time. She raced a beautiful 200 back for silver and obtained two new “B” time standards in 100 IM and 50 back in the relay lead off.
Emily did awesome! She was a bit scared of the 200 back but swam it like a champ, finishing seventh, her best finish. Her biggest improvement was just over 11 seconds in the 100 IM.
Ava also improved her races for a total of 6 seconds in only one week from the last meet. Well done!
