Dino Cup

Hello Team!

Please take a moment to read this email (and jokes), as it is quite important!
There is four weeks to go until Dino Cup. This is the final 10 and under swim meet and we will ‘peak’ the swimmers for it. Basically it means extremely fast swimming (Ludicrous Speed). Needless to say, it is very, very important that you come to this meet. If you can’t make both days, one day is ok as well.
The program
The kids have spent the last few weeks putting in some serious laps and breathing very hard. The good news is, that is mostly done! Now, the next four weeks will focus on speed and swimming VERY fast with very high quality. Expect cramps if you don’t come prepared with a water bottle because the efforts will be shorter, but very intense. Also, try to have a snack that is saved for just before swimming. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen swimmers not feel well because their bodies have no fuel.  It’s like trying to defeat Darth Vader without the force…it is doomed to failure.
There is one last Jr Circuit meet (wild hair meet) before Dino Cup. Those who are coming will have a great chance to fine tune some racing before Dino Cup.
The Dino Cup (Sign up Dealine is MARCH 5th)
Here is more information about the Dino Cup, once again for those who have already seen it. This meet is swum by age group: 7 and under, 8 years old, 9 years old, and 10 years old. The younger ones have a great chance to have some great results, as they are only competing against their own age. There are also going to be lots of prizes given out at the meet, in addition to the usual ribbons for 1st to 8th place. Below is what each day will look like.

The Great Attendance Race
Attendance is VITAL to succesful swimming. With only 4 weeks until Dino Cup, it becomes even more critical than normal that you swim your 3x per week. The flu has hit some of our swimmers hard but our team is still doing very well. Our group average is still above 97%, I just know we can keep it up high!
We still have: Pierre Andre Dawe, Tanzin King, Cassiby Behm, Sarah Carmicheal, Emma Carmichael, Katy Carmichael, Emily Titus, Avery Spence, and Florence Pouliot with perfect attendance over the whole year. Considering all the flu bugs and injuires around, this is really incredible.
After reading this, it would be a good idea to send an quick email to coach Don confirming you are going to the Dino Cup. You won’t want to miss it!
